Key Features

8.85MP Super 35mm CMOS sensor

An 8.85MP Super 35mm CMOS sensor, designed and manufactured by Canon specifically for video capture delivers superb high-resolution images with high sensitivity, low noise, reduced rolling shutter artefacts and beautifully shallow depth of field.

4K 10 bit RAW

The C500 offers 4K 10-bit RAW, 2K RGB (4:4:4, 10/12 bit) or Full HD RGB data output to a compatible third party external device at frame rates of up to 60P. Two further SDI outputs can connect to an external monitor. Simultaneously record Full HD MXF files to CF cards for use as proxies in desktop editing.

Industry-standard PL lens mount

The industry standard PL mount is compatible with a wide variety of interchangeable lenses already used by film, TV and video production professionals, as well as Canon’s own 4K Cinema lenses. 3 electronic built-in ND filters increase shooting versatility.

Compact, modular, lightweight

Ultra-compact, a basic recording set up weighs just 1930g (without lens). A detachable multi-angle LCD panel ensures maximum manoeuvrability and the robust, splash resistant body features magnesium alloy components for extra rigidity and toughness.

50Mbps MPEG-2 MXF to CF cards

Record broadcast-ready MPEG-2 MXF files at 50Mbps (4:2:2) to two CF memory cards – with relay and simultaneous recording options. Industry-standard outputs include HD-SDI and Timecode, Genlock and Synch terminals for multi-camera shoots.

High sensitivity, low noise

Enhanced sensitivity, low noise images can be captured at up to ISO 80000, allowing use in almost any shooting situation.

Canon Log

Shooting with Canon Log delivers neutral image quality with wide dynamic range - 12-stops of latitude at a base setting of ISO 850 - for maximum freedom in post-production.

24.00p for movie production

PAL, NTSC, and 24.00p modes are included as standard. Support for frame rates up to 120p in both 4K and 2K resolution enables high-speed (slow motion) video capture in high resolution.

Wi-Fi remote control

Use the optional Wi-Fi adaptor (WFT-E6) to start and stop recording, preview images and control camera settings like ISO, White Balance and ND filters via a notebook, tablet or Smartphone using a simple browser-based user interface.
